Ideal Presidential Tickets for 2012

Attention, Democrats and Republicans! My husband has come up with the ideal presidential ticket for each of our major political parties. In fact, he woke up in the middle of the night to jot down the inspirational suggestions below.

DEMOCRATIC TICKET

Candidates: Barack Obama for President and Oprah Winfrey for Vice President.
Qualifications: Obama -- four years as President plus his half-white racial background. Oprah – could finance entire campaign and secure the Hollywood vote.
Key Appointments after Election: Congressman Rangel as Secretary of State because “he can see the UN from his New York office.” Vin Diesel as Energy Advisor. Why? “His name just sounds right for the job.”

REPUBLICAN TICKET

Candidates: Sarah Palin for President and Rand Paul for Vice President.
Qualifications: Palin – two years as Alaska governor plus extensive tours of the United States to sign her “Going Rogue” book. Paul – a fresh face from Kentucky who could secure the Southern vote.
Key Appointments after Election: For Secretary of State, Glen Beck, “a visionary who can see things others cannot.” For Energy Advisor – any Texas Republican would do, “especially that guy who apologized to British Petroleum.”

Bi-partisan food for thought, right?

Hooray for Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough!

We're celebrating at our house today and cheering for this year's champs on Dancing with the Stars. Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough deserved the trophy, but I was surprised when Jennifer said she decided to perform in the final show despite a painful back injury she suffered on Monday night.

I couldn't help wondering why Jennifer would make such a reckless decision. But then she explained, "I couldn't miss an opportunity to dance two more times with Derek."

Great answer!!!

Derek IS amazing, espcially when he jumps in the air, does a TRIPLE turn before landing, and continues dancing with elegance, energy and flair. Could Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire have done that move? I wonder.

Last night's "Dancing with the Stars" episode is one of my favorite shows ever! All of the contestants were wonderful, but Derek Hough and Jennifer Grey simply glowed in their Cha Cha and Waltz numbers.

Even if they don't win this year's trophy, their performances last night were unforgettable. Such love and joy in dancing combined with impeccable technique made their routines something special indeed!

I can hardly wait for these routines to play on YouTube, where I'll watch them over and over again.

QUANTUM GENRE: Weird and Wonderful Cinema

I’m happy to report that my “Weird and Wonderful Cinema” article is included in V. Ulea’s anthology, Quantum Genre in the Planet of Arts, which Paraphilia Magazine will be publishing in E-book format within the next couple of weeks. I feel honored, especially because my contribution is the only one about film in this unique collection of short stories, flash fiction, book interpretations and other artistic works.

In keeping with the Quantum Genre concept, “Weird and Wonderful Cinema” describes a meeting of my Current Self, Past Self and Future Self as we revise film reviews for three movies -- The Fountain, Mulholland Drive, and Sliding Doors -- to include new Quantum Genre perspectives. I hope the article is as much fun to read as it was to write!

I’m sure you’re wondering what Quantum Genre is all about. It encompasses style-based rather than theme-based efforts. As explained in a manifesto published by Sein & Werden, although these Quantum Works are NOT about quantum theory, they deal with quantum representation of characters and their worlds. “The style is distinguished by a high degree of obscurity of both narrative and characters which are subject to mutability and ambiguity.”

If a “Weird and Wonderful Cinema” film treatment gets the greenlight, you can see why I want David Lynch or Tim Burton to direct. :-)
