A Modern Wizard

Yes, I admit to being a lifelong movie addict, but I must confess to another addiction now -- book publicity services from Denise Cassino. I call Denise “O Wizardly One” because she’s worked her magic on two successful E-Book launches for me. In both cases, my books ended up as bestsellers in more than one category in Amazon’s Kindle store.

Denise’s launch for the Kindle edition of CONFESSIONS OF A MOVIE ADDICT, my amusing “life-at-the-movies” memoir, kicked off on Tuesday, August 2. By the end of the day, this E-book version ranked as a bestseller in three categories, with the most encouraging one being #2 in the Movie Guides & Reviews category -- where Roger Ebert’s YOUR MOVIE SUCKS remained at #1. How could anyone top a book with an outrageous title like that?

Working with Denise on a book launch feels like being with a friend who wants the best for you. She’s patient, interested in your story, and willing to challenge you when necessary. Of course, her professionalism and creativity add to the final product, but Denise’s cooperative spirit makes her someone very special indeed. I feel extremely lucky that “O Wizardly One” conjured up MY two book launches!

Because my author’s royalties for CONFESSIONS OF A MOVIE ADDICT are being donated to The Film Foundation (www.film-foundation.org), movie fans who purchase my book are also supporting this important non-profit film preservation organization founded by Martin Scorsese.

I want to thank Margaret Bodde, Executive Director of The Film Foundation, as well as my friends and colleagues (Warren Epstein, James Colt Harrison, Diana Saenger, Nancy Lombardo, Denise Cassino, A.J. Hakari and Danielle Dyer) who appeared on the August 2nd Movie Addict Headquarters show -- “Preserving Films & Movie Memories” -- to help celebrate film preservation and the kick-off launch for the Kindle edition of CONFESSIONS OF A MOVIE ADDICT. Thanks also to everyone who purchased this book and to the folks at BlogTalkRadio and at WRSP936 for their support.

CONFESSIONS Available on Kindle Soon

The paperback version of CONFESSIONS OF A MOVIE ADDICT, my amusing life-at-the-movies memoir, was released in 2001 -– and I’m happy to celebrate this tenth anniversary by making it available soon on Amazon’s Kindle. Because it was so much fun to write this book, I’m pleased when reviewers and fans have fun reading it. For example, Warren Epstein, who was a film critic for The Gazette in Colorado Springs back then, shocked me -– but made me laugh -- with his reaction below.

I hate Betty Jo Tucker. As a fellow Colorado film critic, I’ve loathed her for years. Sure, you can call it professional jealousy. But see it from my perspective. We all go to a film festival. Most of us get an article or two out of it. Betty Jo gets an adventure. She ends up being served dinner by the filmmakers, for heaven’s sake! Well, now I have to put up with her new book, CONFESSIONS OF A MOVIE ADDICT, and, believe me, it’s about as Betty Jo as it can be. She takes us behind the scenes of the entertainment industry, sharing her favorite celebrity interviews and revealing her personal connections and passions for the movies. As if we care. (OK, the mishap at her first porn film had me laughing. But just a little.) You’ll probably read this book and fall in love with Betty Jo. See if I care.

And film historian James Colt Harrison boosted my spirits when he wrote, “If Oscars were given out for the funniest book of the year, CONFESSIONS OF A MOVIE ADDICT would win hands down.”

Comedian Nancy Lombardo also perked me up considerably by declaring, “I love this book. Someone should buy the rights and make a movie out of it. It’s that good!”

More details about the 10th Anniversary release of CONFESSIONS OF A MOVIE ADDICT on Kindle are coming soon.

We're Bestselling Authors!

Thanks to the magic of Denise Cassino, my husband and I are now bestselling authors. Denise put together and coordinated a very successful book launch for our expanded KINDLE edition of IT HAD TO BE US, the little romantic memoir we wrote under the pen names of Harry and Elizabeth Lawrence.

Within a few hours after the launch began yesterday, our book ranked Number One on the Amazon Kindle Bestseller List in the divorce category!

We highly recommend Denise Cassino to any authors or wannabe authors who want help in bringing their work to the attention of readers.

She combines creativity with professionalism in her timely and artistic approach to book promotion. To find out more about Denise’s services, go to www.wizardlywebdesigns.com.

Thanks also to hosts Morgan Lawrence and Wacko Bob from BlogTalkRadio's Shiny Daze show and Nikki Starr, producer of BTR's Movie Addict Headquarters, for their wonderful support as well as to V. Ulea for the impressive review posted on Amazon Kindle. And, of course, special thanks to everyone who purchased the Kindle edition of IT HAD TO BE US. We hope you enjoy it!
