The End of the World?

Last Tuesday on Movie Addict Headquarters, fantasy author Lanaia Lee and documentary filmmaker Peter Hankoff shed considerable light on the Mayan prediction about the end of the world on December 21, 2012. It was a fascinating discussion!

Lanaia’s exciting new book, Skulls of Salvation, deals with the Mayan ancient prophecy and how the Crystal Skulls of Belize might be used to ward off this cataclysmic event. Peter, whose Nostradamus: Uncoded documentary aired recently on the National Geographic and Discovery Channels, explained that Nostradamus saw human existence continuing on through another thousand years or more.

Both Lanaia and Peter expressed interest in 2012, filmmaker Roland Emmerich’s version of how the world as we know it will end. Starring John Cusack, 2012 topped the box office this past weekend. Lanaia pointed out that the film mentioned the ancient Mayan prophecy but did not include anything about the Crystal Skulls. Peter called the movie’s special effects “awesome!” However, he was not impressed with the last part of the film because “it looked like Irwin Allen had taken over.”
