A Movie That Matters

From its shocking beginning to its emotionally powerful conclusion, Two Ways Home grabs your heart and won’t let go. The story follows Kathy, a  woman living with a bi-polar disorder, who returns to her farm home in Iowa after being arrested and spending time in jail for a botched robbery she was involved in.

Tanna Frederick (Hollywood Dreams) plays this meaty role with a wonderful authenticity that wins us over right away. She becomes Kathy from head to toe. And that’s why we empathize with her as she faces almost insurmountable obstacles while trying to reconnect with her family. Veteran actor Tom Bower (Die Hard) portrays Kathy’s cantankerous grandfather, the only one who seems glad to see her.

Two Ways Home boasts soul-touching scenes.

I teared up watching what each means.

Leaving home and then coming back.

Mental suffering, facing flack.

Imperfection, old age, and change.

Can family group rearrange?

A lovely film with gutsy folks.

Nothing looks fake; no cutesy jokes.

Tanna Frederick commands the screen.

Heartbreaking acting -- she’s the Queen!

Tom Bower reaches deep inside

and takes us on a poignant ride.

Movies that matter make me cheer.

Two Ways Home is one for this year.

Kudos to director Ron Vignone, screenwriter Richard Schinnow, and producer Tanna Frederick as well as to all the fine cast members and crew for making a film that helps us realize -- no matter how difficult the problems -- hope, courage and persistence sometimes can save the day and even the farm.

It’s Maggie Chase acting again.

But wiser now than she was in

two former films about her goal

to be a star in every role.

Instead of film, she’s in a play --

and winning praise, but should she stay?

An offer for a TV show

has come her way, so should she go?

She’s fallen for a TV guy

who hopes she’ll give TV a try.

But cast and crew depend on her.

They may be hurt by this new lure.

Tanna Frederick is great again.

Many more fans she’ll surely win.

Henry Jaglom directs with care

and adds a twist that few would dare.

James Denton plays the TV guy

who looks so fine and makes me sigh.

A mystery also appears.

Where is the man who disappears?

Tanna the Terrific

Tanna Frederick, an award-winning actress, director, and environmentalist, has been named “Favorite Female Star on Movie Addict Headquarters” by listeners who voted in an e-mail election during the past few weeks. In recognition of this honor, a special tribute for Tanna was held on the November 27th MAHQ show, and the talented honoree graciously agreed to be present for this celebration, which turned out to be one of our best episodes ever!

Just 45 Minutes from Broadway

How I wish I could be at the Edgemar Center for the Arts in Santa Monica on October 17th! That’s the opening date for Henry Jaglom’s new play, Just 45 Minutes from Broadway, starring the exciting young actress Tanna Frederick. After seeing Frederick in Jaglom’s wonderful film Irene in Time, I’m eager to watch her perform on stage as well as on the big screen.

I also admire Jaglom for the way he puts women front and center in his films, This acclaimed writer/director boasts an impressing resumé packed with such movies as Hollywood Dreams (also starring Frederick), Someone To Love, Venice/Venice and Eating. Jaglom’s plays include the award-winning Room 322 and A Safe Place – his debut theatre piece first written for the Actors’ Studio and later made into a film with Jack Nicholson, Tuesday Weld and Orson Welles.

The Gala Opening Night performance of Just 45 Minutes from Broadway will be followed by a reception with hors d’oeuvres, libations and music. All proceeds from this event will be donated to support the children’s outreach programs at the non-profit Edgemar Center.
