Color Her Crazy

If you haven’t heard comedian Nancy Lombardo’s CD Color Me Crazy, you are really missing something! My husband and I listened to it two days ago and we’re still chuckling over the funny characters Nancy brings to life as well as the comic situations she performs in amusing one-woman skits like Spanish Movies, Tour Guide and La Mala Pepita. Plus Nancy’s singing -- even in dialects -- comes across as entertaining as her comedy. I agree with four-year old Ruby, who says, “She sings like a princess or a ballerina from the toy castle.” My favorite musical number from Color Me Crazy is “Blame It On My Mother,” and I love Tony Salvatore’s musical accompaniment throughout this unique CD.

Nancy’s humor may be irreverent at times, but it’s always creative and hilarious. In Mary Christmas, her other CD, Nancy takes on religion as “Mary” reacts to finding out she’s about to become the Mother of God. Plus we hear a bizarre tale about Kafka for Kristmas; meet Binky, a disgruntled elf; and receive a few of Nancy’s “Holiday Hints for the Home,” including some surprising uses for holy water. To me, Mary Christmas carries on the type of humor I enjoyed so much in The Life of Brian, my favorite Monty Python movie.

After listening to Color Me Crazy and Mary Christmas, I’m convinced Nancy Lombardo may be crazy -- but only, as the old saying goes -- like a fox.

A Modern Wizard

Yes, I admit to being a lifelong movie addict, but I must confess to another addiction now -- book publicity services from Denise Cassino. I call Denise “O Wizardly One” because she’s worked her magic on two successful E-Book launches for me. In both cases, my books ended up as bestsellers in more than one category in Amazon’s Kindle store.

Denise’s launch for the Kindle edition of CONFESSIONS OF A MOVIE ADDICT, my amusing “life-at-the-movies” memoir, kicked off on Tuesday, August 2. By the end of the day, this E-book version ranked as a bestseller in three categories, with the most encouraging one being #2 in the Movie Guides & Reviews category -- where Roger Ebert’s YOUR MOVIE SUCKS remained at #1. How could anyone top a book with an outrageous title like that?

Working with Denise on a book launch feels like being with a friend who wants the best for you. She’s patient, interested in your story, and willing to challenge you when necessary. Of course, her professionalism and creativity add to the final product, but Denise’s cooperative spirit makes her someone very special indeed. I feel extremely lucky that “O Wizardly One” conjured up MY two book launches!

Because my author’s royalties for CONFESSIONS OF A MOVIE ADDICT are being donated to The Film Foundation (, movie fans who purchase my book are also supporting this important non-profit film preservation organization founded by Martin Scorsese.

I want to thank Margaret Bodde, Executive Director of The Film Foundation, as well as my friends and colleagues (Warren Epstein, James Colt Harrison, Diana Saenger, Nancy Lombardo, Denise Cassino, A.J. Hakari and Danielle Dyer) who appeared on the August 2nd Movie Addict Headquarters show -- “Preserving Films & Movie Memories” -- to help celebrate film preservation and the kick-off launch for the Kindle edition of CONFESSIONS OF A MOVIE ADDICT. Thanks also to everyone who purchased this book and to the folks at BlogTalkRadio and at WRSP936 for their support.
